Something new

hello

Some time ago I had my own website - very similar to the one you're visiting now. I used it as a place to share photographs that wouldn’t usually make it onto my Instagram feed. I can be overly critical of what I post there, perhaps obsessively so as only a small fraction of the photos I take ever make the cut. That previous site was mostly a blog, a space where I could freely upload images of a higher resolution (especially on the desktop version) without the self-imposed pressure to only showcase the “best” ones.

More importantly, though, I also wanted a space to share the thoughts and stories behind the photos - details about the places I visited, meandering reflections while travelling, or simply a few words to accompany an image and capture how I felt in that moment.

I want to do that again, a bit more consistently this time. I feel like I have a lot I want to say and show. Whether anyone chooses to read or look isn’t the point - I’ll be using this as a kind of open journal I can return to. Still, by sharing it publicly, I hope someone might find a sense of connection, joy, or resonance in what I post. If I can do that, it will feel like I’ve left something meaningful behind, an emotion embedded in the binary code that brought you to this page.

I have no idea how frequent the posts will be, but I’ll share future updates via Instagram, and you can also sign up for the newsletter if you'd like to stay in the loop.

I’ve got a few ideas in the works: plenty of Japan-related content to begin with, a monthly “what I shot, listened to, and read” roundup, and I’m also working on publishing my first photography zine and a set of postcards.

So watch this space, and thanks for reading.

P.S. if you’re wondering ‘why ‘rebel scout’?’ well that’s a blog post topic for another day…
